BEST PLACE TO  WORK As a seasoned human resources professional with the little knowledge and expertise in the field of human capital, my experience teaches me that every employer wants to make their company the best place to work and every employee wants to work for their dream company   BUT   How many do really understand that it is a combined effort?   Here are my 2 cents below   Every employer wants to make their company the best place to work, and every employee wants to work for their dream company. However, many people do not fully understand that creating a positive work environment and making a company a great place to work is a combined effort between employers and employees.   Employers have a responsibility to provide a safe, supportive, and fair work environment for their employees. This includes offering competitive compensation and benefits packages, providing opportunities for professional development and growth, and foste...

THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE WATCHING

A few years ago, I had developed a habit of opening my official laptop at home. Now let us not get into a debate whether it is right or wrong to do that and debate on the impact of such actions on work life balance etc. My intension is not to spark a deliberation around this or any other similar topic. My son was 4 years old then and like any other kid would be fascinated by just looking at any electronic gadget. Whenever he sees me opening my laptop he will immediately jump and sit next to me carefully observing what I do. It was a hectic day at work. I was dazed when I looked at my watch showing the time, 9pm.  "Time to go home" I told myself not just because it was late but also because I was done for the day. After getting out of the main gate of the software park and then sliding by the roads I merged into the national highway that I normally take on my way home to beat the city traffic and have a smooth drive. Normally at this time of the evening there would be few cars on the road and almost double the number of two wheelers. So, traffic would normally be free flow.   Expecting the traffic to be less and hoping to reach home fast I was zipping through my way only to be surprised. While I almost reached the end of the highway where I need to take an over bridge to get back into the city, I ...

Lonliness is a Choice

It was around 10 years ago. My daughter was a little kid then, she is still a little kid to me though. The company that I worked then was a very people centric company and it ran several initiatives for employee engagement and motivation. One such initiative that they used to diligently administer was Family Day. I can hear your mind which says "What is so special about family day? every company does this?". Of course yes I don't deny the fact that every company does this. There are many reasons why an employee would wait for this event. Many companies ensure that on this day they ensure make the employee proud in their family's presence. Here in this company they used to do several things that made the families feel proud in front of the employees. I can go on and on but that would make me deviate from the topic so let me return back to the crux.           ...
